Communication is integral to productive and peaceful communities. In remote areas, finding ways to facilitate exchanges between government and citizenry can be challenging. Community radio journalism plays a key role in this exchange and provides active, safe spaces for communication between citizens and government.

At the tender age of 28, Andi Arfan Sabran, the Director of SERASI Grantee Rumah Ide (House of Ideas), lives and breathes documentary films. Born and raised in Makassar, South Sulawesi, young Arfan was profoundly inspired by his father, a former technical consultant who later became a budayawan, or cultural scholar.
